I truly cannot say enough great things about what you and everyone involved in my tour did to make Morocco so inviting and amazing for me. I must admit I ignorantly thought of Morocco as only a barren desert where you ride camels and enjoy a bit of mint tea. I was completely surprised and astonished to visit such gorgeous places as Ifrane, and the lake near Ouarzazate, not to mention the intense ravines near Tinghir.
As for my driving experience, I couldn't have had a better driver than Hamid! Truly! He was wonderful, informative, funny, smart, kind, and became a true friend long before the end of the ten days. Departing the airport after ten days together was extremely hard; saying goodbye to a genuine friend is always difficult. Again, I could write pages and pages or reviews on Hamid, but you would think he paid me to say so many great things about him!
I wish I could tell you what were the highlights of the trip, but that's pretty impossible considering every day was a completely new and wonderful experience. I thought all I wanted to do was go to Morocco, ride a camel in the desert, and check it off my list. However, that became secondary to all the other amazing experiences I had. From walking around the Medinas to standing inside the ruined temple at Vouliboulis, to eating "real" food like locals do at a market, to wheeling pottery with the help of a master craftsman, to speaking with a nomad Berber woman in the gorges, to feeding the monkeys fresh cherries in the woods.....there are simply too many memories to pick just one or two as the highlight of the trip! Needless to say, I loved every moment!! And I haven't even begun to tell you about the places I stayed - simply gorgeous riads!!!! I can't imagine what a five star riad would look like, or how you could ever leave it to go visit the cities, because mine were absolutely amazing and I had a hard time deciding if I wanted to stay in and be decadent lounging in the riad or if I wanted to check out all that the cities had to offer - very tough choices!! But I usually went out to see what else was available in the cities......they were just a little too enticing.
I can't say enough about the trip, and the special people who made my ten days seem like a lifetime - and what a lifetime it was! The memories and friends I've made, especially Hamid and Ahmed (my guide in Fes) will be treasured forever.
